Dale Schumacher has served as the Learning Web’s executive director for over a dozen years, building the program’s reach and supporting thousands of Ithaca’s youth. Dale has officially retired and handed the reigns over to Neoma Mullens. Mullens holds an undergraduate and master’s degree from Cornell University and has worked at Cornell for over fifteen years in various positions, most recently as the interim director of student services in the Hotel School within the SC Johnson College of Business.
“I am thrilled to join the Learning Web, which has an extensive history of positive youth development in our community,” said Mullens. “Combining traditional educational environments with experiential learning is shown to improve outcomes for young people, so I’m eager to increase those opportunities in collaboration with both our participants and supporters. As someone who benefits from the mentorship of so many individuals, the chance to serve is truly an honor.”
“I have had the pleasure of working with Neoma while at Cornell, working together on programs to enhance students’ growth and development,” shared DeLuca. “I am excited to see how her commitment to a young person’s “best self” will influence the already strong programs we have at The Web. While we’re sad to see Dale go, we’re all very excited about the skills and perspective Neoma brings to this work. We’re poised to move forward with our new leadership, always committed to our community and the impact we can have on young people’s lives!”
