The Learning Web has a variety of services designed specifically for middle school children.
Middle schoolers can discover a hobby, pursue an interest, or explore a potential career field by joining one of our Exploration Tours of a local business or organization. These one-time, one hour visits usually entail a tour of the facility, a presentation from one or more professionals that work at the site, and an opportunity to ask any questions you may have. Our tours have included visits to veterinarians’ offices, a bakery, a biotechnology lab, a photographer’s studio, and many more. Talk to us about your tour ideas! See more about Exploration Tours
Volunteer Community Service Program
Join other middle school youth to make a difference by helping your community. Meet with the group and help out at different local organizations. Some of these visits include making dog biscuits at the SPCA or working in the garden at The Ithaca Children’s Garden. In addition, each group will have a chance to investigate community issues and carry out a project to address the problem. In the past, groups have had a bake sale to raise money to buy holiday gifts for children, a walk-a-thon to raise money to plant trees, and a spaghetti dinner to raise fund to support tens living with cancer.
In addition, you can either participate in the program during the school year or during the summer.
